Getting Crafty and Turning Green

The weather was so odd today. It was sunny in the morning when Ilia went for her skating lesson, then it was cold and rainy after church for couple hours. By the time Tessa woke up from her nap, it was sunny again, so they went out in the trampoline for a bit, and then did some biking and scooter in the driveway.

While Tessa was napping, Ilia wanted me to teach her how to make a headband with handmade flowers. Before we could start, Ilia had to finish her Chinese homework. While I was getting her homework out for her, I saw her mid-term from couple weeks ago in her bag. Now after the test she did tell me that she didn’t make any mistakes but I hadn’t seen the test till now. She got 100%, and I’m so proud of her! Once Ilia finished her homework, she picked out the colours of the fabric for her flower and headband, and she helped cut out the circles. The rest involves fire, so she just watched as I finished it off. She was very happy with the way it turned out.

A quick update on the worms if you are following our blog. They are turning green! The reason they were blue was due to a lack of pigments in their wheat-germ based diet. The worm’s blood contains blue-colored protein insecticyanin. Now that they are eating pepper leaves, they are getting the yellow carotenoid protein. When this is bond with insecticyannin , it makes the green protein complex. Pretty cool!
